Imogen Clark is originally hails from Australia, however has relocated to Nashville, Tennessee. After first playing at the Blue Bird Cafe for the American Music Festival in 2014, Imogen knew she wanted to relocate to Nashville. “it truly took me ten years to get together. The means to do that and to build towards doing that,” Imogen shares, “And I've officially moved this year in 2024, so it it feels really, it feels like a full circle moment, having been able to sort of visit for many years and come over for 2 or 3 months at a time, maybe, but never actually put roots down. And now I'm able to do that, which is so lovely.”
Imogen spoke about the passion that she has for music, “I honestly don't know. I think these words are thrown around a lot, but I mean it when I say that I do not know what I would do without music. I mean, it is a core part of my being….It's been the thing that lifted me through hard times. It's been my way of celebrating good times. It's been my way of connecting with people… I mean, it's just been the thing that has kept me together all my life, and it's my way of expressing myself. So I truly don't know what I would do without it”
Additionally during the interview, Imogen expands on the inspiration behind her latest album, “The Art of Getting Through”, referencing the album cover, which features two versions of herself, which is meant to symbolize resilience and self-reliance. She explains further, “the concept of the record being about, learning how to get through life and help yourself through and be your own hero and the fact that you kind of take baggage with you through life, that's just like a normal adult thing that we all have to deal with. But you, you can learn to get yourself through things and pull yourself through hard times”. She collaborated with Julia McGaugh for the albums artwork, which features a double image of Imogen which is meant to represent growth and emotional healing.
For this performance, she was joined in studio by Mike Bloom, on guitar, who also produced and played many instruments on the record.
Imogen Clark performed 4 songs; “All Hard Feelings”, “Ruin My Life”, “Sebastian”, "The Art of Getting Through"
