Ready for this week's new music? Sooooooooper excited for new tunes from Matt Berninger & Haim. And, as a special treat this week, you get a pronunciation guide! So, get ready for class, kids.
Matt Berninger (like burning-er) – “Bonnet Of Pins”…lead singer of the National, from his 2nd solo album Get Sunk (5/30)…recorded here in LA (in a Silverlake basement studio) with Berninger and producer/engineer Sean O’Brien who also co-wrote many of the songs…Berninger plays the Palace Theatre in downtown LA (5/21) – just in case you want a little history on this venue here – the oldest remaining original Orpheum theatre in the U.S.
Haim (Hy-um is technically the right way to say it, but Hyme is also OK, they literally say their own name both ways) – “Relationships”…sisters Este (Es tee), Danielle (says her name like din-yell), and Alana (Ah lahn nah) are at it again…produced by Danielle Haim and Rostam Batmanglij (Raa stuhm Bat man gleej) (formerly Vampire Weekend)…watch the Haim video for the song here…the band says the new album (coming soon) is “the closest we’ve ever gotten to how we wanted to sound.” And if you’ve ever wanted to see Rostam cooking with him mum, here you go.

ALO (pronounced A-L-O aka Animal Liberation Orchestra) – “Blank Canvas”…from their new album Frames (out 4/4)…formed at UCSB, Zach Gill still lives in SB, band is all California residents...playing Beachlife in Redondo 5/3.
